A sacred fusion of Western folk and Indian rhythms, Spirit of Bhakti is a unique trio, offering music to nourish the soul. And they’re playing at Wauchope Arts Hall on Saturday night.

These master musicians, each from different cultures, enjoy performing together as they each grow from the exchange, learning new techniques.

Open Door, by Spirit of Bhakti

Californian singer/songwriter Rebecca Bornstein presents her original compositions with soulful vocals and acoustic guitar. Raised in a yoga community in California, Rebecca has been writing devotional songs since the age of six.

To this Menaka Thomas weaves her haunting Indian melodies, along with tabla master Shen Flindell and his percussive brilliance.  Menaka has been studying South Indian Classical music since the young age of five years.

The trio have been performing regularly around Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Byron Bay. They have featured in events such as Brisbane YogaFest, Sydney’s Super Retreat and locally at the Ekam Yoga Festival.

Their first album, “Open Door” was released in June 2015, and featured on ABC Radio National’s program “The Rhythm Divine”. Short description: A sacred fusion of Western folk and Indian rhythms, Spirit of Bhakti is a unique trio, offering music to nourish the soul.
