The weekend extravaganza, September 22-23 will draw crowds of more than 800 people and president of the society said final preparations are being made.
“The Society is looking forward to the show despite the recent extremely very cold weather which made for difficult growing conditions in some regions,” Mr Young said.
“Nevertheless, we expect a great display of plants to be available for the show as generally the conditions in Port Macquarie are excellent for orchid growing.
“In addition to the orchids, there will be a range of bromeliads and foliage plants also on display.”
”While it is difficult to predict the exact number of plants which will be on display, our members have indicated that they all have quite a number of plants in flower so we expect the display to be quite extensive and certainly well over 200 individual plants for people to see,” he said.

“As the show is slightly later this year it should be in the prime time for many of the native orchids such as Dendrobium Speciosum or Rock Orchid to be in flower.”
Mr Young also said there will be extensive judging of the plants over the weekend with exhibitors coming from far and wide to be a part of the show.
“The judges will be coming from the surrounding districts.
“Exhibitors in the show are typically from the Port Macquarie region and surrounding towns but we are expecting to see exhibits from as far north as the Nambucca region, as far south as Foster as well as from from Taree and Wauchope.
“There will be 11 classes of orchids resulting in 83 different types of orchid plants potentially being on display and 10 types of bromeliads exhibited including a special section for Ferns and Foliage plants (non-flowering).
“As well as all the plants people will be able to ask our members any questions they have on growing orchids over the weekend.”
The Orchid and Bromeliad show will be at Port Panthers on Saturday September 22 9am -5pm and Sunday September 23 9am-3pm.
