Their under-14 side capped off a near-perfect season when they defeated Merewether United 1-0 in the grand final on August 26.
In claiming the title, they backed up their minor premiership success that saw them secure the premiers plate after round 17 – four matches before the completion of the season.
They finished the regular season an incredible 19 points ahead of their second-placed rivals, claiming an impressive 20 victories from 21 matches.
Three of the season’s top five goalscorers all came from the Mid North Coast side who scored a mammoth 115 goals and finished with a goal difference of +103.
Coach Brenton Doyle couldn’t have been more proud of his side.
“These girls have excited us and enthralled us all season,” he said.
“Even though nerves at times got the better of them (in the grand final) they just didn’t say no - at the end they just kept going like they have all year.”
The team is now preparing for the Northern New South Wales state championships for girls to be held in Coffs Harbour from October 3-5.
All 3 Football Mid North Coast WPL sides (U14s, U17s and U20s) qualified for the final series this season.
Their under-20s also played in the grand final, but were defeated by Warners Bay 1-0 following a 69th minute strike.
FMNC is the only non-Newcastle based team in the Herald Women’s Premier League Competition.
The teams consist of representative players from across the Mid North Coast, from Forster-Tuncurry to Kempsey.
Players and families travel to Newcastle on alternate weeks for away games.
