About 200 people gathered at the 2017 Archibald Prize Regional Tour exhibition opening at the Glasshouse on the evening of August 24.
The Archibald Prize is Australia’s foremost portraiture prize.
In its 96th year, the Archibald Prize has been held annually since 1921.
The open competition is judged by the trustees of the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
Entries to the Archibald Prize must be painted in the past year from at least one live sitting.
Finalists’ works are exhibited at the Art Gallery of New South Wales before embarking on a year-long regional tour – the Glasshouse Regional Gallery is the final stop of the 2017 Archibald Prize Regional Tour.
The exhibition at the Glasshouse continues until October 7.
