Lola Rinkin and Lyn Elliott made nine laundry bags in one day.
Lyn also knitted 40 yellow poppies, while Carol McManus, Lynda Wines and Mary Martin crocheted about 90 poppies.
The Port Macquarie group answered a call from the Central Council of RSL Auxiliaries NSW to make the items for the Invictus Games.
The Invictus Games is an international sporting event for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women.
More than 500 competitors from 18 nations will take part in the Sydney event in October.
Port Macquarie RSL Women’s Auxilary president Lee Tet Fong said it was good to help the younger veterans.
She said the Invictus Games project maintained interest and kept the group together in this trying time.
Port Macquarie RSL Women’s Auxiliary remains unable to fundraise due to a RSL NSW statewide suspension of fundraising activities.
Port Macquarie RSL Women’s Auxiliary meets on the second Monday of the month at 10.30am at Port Macquarie Panthers.
A bond of camaraderie unites the members.
Long-serving member Dawn Everingham joined the RSL Women’s Auxiliary in Sydney in 1957.
“A friend invited me to go along the meeting and before I left I was the assistant secretary,” she said.
Mrs Everingham said the RSL Women’s Auxiliary had provided continuity in her life.
She said the members had a common interest and sense of camaraderie.
“I think everybody works well together,” Mrs Everingham said.
