The Country Rock Fundraiser held on Saturday night raised even more funds for farmers out west.

The event was held at Smithtown RSL Club and was organised in one week by five local women, Samantha Hughes, Mandy Goodman, Jo-Anne Wood, Jayne Lawrence and Suzanna Argue, all coming from farming backgrounds.
The night featured country rock music, good food and a raffle and auction, altogether the night raised over $8000 that has been donated to Aussie Helpers and the Macleay Hay Run.
Samantha Hughes from Kempsey Stock & Land said the response from the community on the night was amazing.
“We were going to be happy with just raising $5000 but to raise over $8000 in one night was really great. We were overwhelmed with the support from the community,” she said.

The night drew a crowd of around 300 people, a number that exceeded expectations.
“It was pretty packed, it was great to see the community still wanting to help the farmers,” Ms Hughes said.
Organisers of the event would like to thank anyone who came along on the night as well as everyone involved in making it all happen.
“If it wasn’t for the generosity from the community and people working together, it wouldn’t have happened,” Ms Hughes said.
