Kingsley Russell Eager sentenced over historic child sex offences

A 78-year-old man will spend at least the next four and a half years in custody after pleading guilty to historic child sex offences.

Kingsley Russell Eager, of Maitland, pleaded guilty to a series of charges when he appeared in Newcastle District Court on Monday August 6.

The charges included, sexual assault, assault and act of indecency involving a person under 16 years of age and sexual assault of a person under 16 years of age.

Eager appeared before Judge R Ellis.

Eager was sentenced to an aggregate term of imprisonment of nine years and three months to commence on August 6, 2018. 

The sentence expires on November 5, 2027 with a non-parole period of four years and six months. Eager can first make application for parole on February 5, 2023.
