The artist enrolled in the 2017 program, which is coordinated by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.
“The Artsmarts program has changed my life and I have gone from wanting to be a writer to being a writer," Ms Pax said.
"I wrote, illustrated and published a book during the mentorship."
The 2018 incarnation will start in mid-August and expressions of interest are now open.
The program is open to budding artists who want to turn their passion into a profession.
The eight month program aims to up-skill creative people with business acumen so they can take their careers to the next level by establishing sustainable businesses.
Participants will learn how to commercialise their art under the guidance of a mentor and acquire the skills needed to develop a business plan, promote their work and manage their business accounts.
“Last year Council received almost 50 applications from local creatives looking to be involved, with 15 people accepted into the program,” council group manager Lucilla Marshall said.
“This year we have 20 places available, and are encouraging everyone from graphic designers and painters to singers and songwriters to apply.”
The program will include monthly group catch-ups where participants can share inspiration and ideas as well as receive one-on-one mentoring with a local artist.
Participants will also be involved in a collaboration with the popular ArtWalk event in April 2019.
The sessions will be facilitated by successful local artist and business owner, Skye Petho of Arthouse Industries, who has more than 25 years business experience and 15 years as a trainer.
