Currently hosting their bi-annual quilt show, the quilting group are anticipating more than 900 people through their three day exhibition, which opened on July 13.
Club secretary Lee McGlashan said it had been a long journey to get to opening day.
“We hold our quilt show every two years so that we can show some of the best work our members are making as well as to raise money for local charities,” Mrs McGlashan said.
“This year we are raising money for Hastings Home Hospice, Endeavour Mental Health and the Hastings Education Fund.
“Last year we were able to raise over $8,000 for the neonatal unit at the Port Macquarie Base Hospital so we know the community are fantastic in their support of us.”
Mrs McGlashan said the theme for the quilt show this year was blue and white and all members had embraced it.
“The quilts on display in the show have been judged and there will be a special award given to the public’s choice on Sunday,” she said.
“Our blue and white theme has been a new addition to the show with all our members taking part in a challenge to make something with those colours.
“We have two displays from the blue and white challenge and I think lots of people will be fascinated by what our members have made.”
She said as well as quilts there are a number of other crafts for people to enjoy.
“Over the show we have a number of traders who have come to show what they can do as well trading tables where people are welcome to look and buy some of the other handmade quilting crafts.
“There is an excellent display from some local students who we donated money to for their HSC textile projects which I recommend people come and have a look at and well as our fabulous raffle which will be drawn on Sunday.”
The quilt show is on at Panthers Port Macquarie from July 13-15.
July 13-14 from 10am-4pm and July 15 from 10am -3pm.
