Last week I attended the official launch of the new car wash in Kew.
When new businesses open anywhere across our region, it’s a positive sign and one that should be celebrated more often.
For Kew, one of our region’s smaller villages, new businesses opening in the area highlight the progress, hard work and vision of the local community.
The Kew community has also been instrumental in the development of the Kew Main Street Master Plan, which is another great example of how when residents, local industry and Council work together, positive outcomes can be achieved.
Council’s initial investment of $100,000 to commence upgrades to the Kew Main Street has resulted in improved pedestrian access throughout the town centre, beautification of the streetscape and road safety improvements being completed.
With an engaged community and vision for the future – Kew will continue to grow, and offer a great rural lifestyle for those who choose to call the popular village home for years to come.
Hidden Treasures Honour Roll
Nominations are now open for the Department of Primary Industries’ Rural Women’s Network 2018 Hidden Treasures Honour Roll.
This annual initiative recognises the outstanding efforts of women volunteers in NSW, and promotes the valuable role of volunteering.
Women are so often the backbone of families and communities, and without their support many groups would not survive.
In my role as mayor, I have witnessed on many occasions the great work being done by local women volunteers, and simply cannot thank them enough for the incredible difference and positive impact they have on our community.
If you know someone who deserves recognition for their great efforts in making our community a better place to live, nominate them by visiting dpi.nsw.gov.au and search ‘Hidden Treasures’.
