Northside Progress Association hosted a meeting to outline the plan for the residents in June.
About 25 residents attended the meeting.
Association president Carla McKern says it is important the North Shore maintains its village atmosphere while future-proofing itself.
"The master plan looks at our future in 20 years' time," Mrs McKern said.
"And with no bridge likely to be constructed during this time, it is vital that Port Macquarie-Hastings Council look at our ferry services and start planning for the future.
"This needs to include, better access to our ferries - specifically along Riverside Drive where the road is virtually falling into the river - and also the removal of the large signs that obstruct the view.
"It was also noted at the meeting that Mayor Peta Pinson would be writing to minister for roads Melinda Pavey requesting the state goverment take back the operations of the ferry services.
"Every other ferry service is NSW is free to use," she said.

"Broadly speaking, we need our ferry services to be better planned to cater for our future."
Mrs McKern pointed to more walking paths and tracks, instalation of picnic benches and barbeques in and around the Coal Wharf Reserve as important.
She said residents had also discussed instalation of viewing platforms at the beach and on the northern breakwall along with better access to Pilot Beach.
"Toilet facilities at Coal Wharf are also part of our master plan along with broad beautification works throughout the North Shore and Riverside," she added.
Mrs McKern said the progress association would continue to lobby council regarding Kangaroo Park.
The association wants council to provide a section of the park for community space.
