They progressed to the final 32 in the statewide knockout competition in a comprehensive 4-1 win over Great Lakes College on June 27.
For Mackillop, Cian Murtagh found the back of the net twice while Luke Townsend and Evan Lipovac also scored.
The school has previously made it to the final eight in the state twice before – the most recent performance coming in 2015 with a team that fielded Angus Thurgate.
Thurgate has now gone on to play in the Hyundai A-League with the Newcastle Jets.
Coach Dom Ashe said stability in the squad over the years had enabled them to come up with consistent performances.
“Of the 17 in the team, 13 of them have come through school with me,” he said.
A commitment to training – they have one session a week for their school team – along with sessions in their representative teams have been the key to their success
“They all get on well, and have been training together for the last four months in really good numbers,” Ashe said.
“We’ll normally get at least 10 of the boys to every session which is fantastic.”
Performances from captain Keegan Murtagh along with Luke Townsend, Cam Martin and Jared Humphreys have provided the backbone of their success.
Mackillop will now face St John Paul College from Coffs Harbour in the round of 32 next Wednesday at Coffs Harbour.
