Hastings Secondary College has named 22 creative and performing arts students for the event where they wilol deliver a combined dance and drama piece before thousands at Sydney Olympic Park in November.
"For the second year, our drama students have been included in the school spectacular which is quite a remarkable achievement,” drama teacher Helene Underwood said.
"Students had to audition with their own unique, devised piece to be considered and then selected to perform in School Spectacular.”
Shea Lamont, college dance captain said it will be a wonderful opportunity for the students to perform before a large crowd.
“We are all excited to be with thousands of other passionate students and to give our energy and love of dance into a performance of a lifetime,” she said.
The televised event will star more than 5,000 students, including a choir of 2,800 voices, 2,200 dancers; an 80-piece symphony orchestra; world-class stage band plus many outstanding, talented soloists.
“It's fantastic to live in a community that supports the cultural development of our students. Our students are super excited to take their place amongst thousands of passionate performers,” Jacynta Moylan said.
"We are calling out to our community for any donations that may help minimise the cost of travel and accommodation to Sydney. You will see students out and about fundraising over the next couple of months.”
Executive Principal Kylee Owen said, the students have worked hard to earn their place.
“Their commitment and dedication are inspiring, and I commend them for their passion and enthusiasm towards the Creative and Performing Arts,” she said.
Students from more than 500 public schools across NSW rehearse for months in preparation for four fantastic shows over two days and nights.
