On June 18, Myra celebrates her 104th birthday and will acknowledge this remarkable milestone surrounded by family and friends.
Myra, who has a beautiful sense of style, grew up in Sydney’s golden era on Abercrombie Street in Redfern where life unfurled something new and exciting every day. She was a dancer at the Tivoli – an avocation she says has stayed with her for a lifetime. She continued to dance right up until she reached her nineties.
She married her love Stuart who ran a successful butcher shop and brought two beautiful children, Gordon and Lorraine, into the world.
Myra has four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and says she is blessed to be celebrating her special day with the ones she loves.
“I still feel quite young,” she said. “I don’t feel any different on the inside.”
And the secret to a long and happy life?
“You’ve got to have a good attitude. The medical benefits of today are wonderful which helps and you’ve got to have good genes.”
