Dozens of underperforming Target stores are set to shut when the leases are up, as part of future plans.
What that means, if anything, for the Port Macquarie store has not been announced.
CEO of department stores Guy Russo addressed a recent Wesfarmers investor briefing day.
Target’s network features more than 300 stores across Australia.
Target’s focus areas are fashion acceleration, a seamless and engaging online proposition and an optimised store network.
A spokesperson said it was business as usual for Target and all stakeholders would be communicated with well in advance of any planned change to Target’s store network.
The spokesperson said Target looked forward to continuing its relationship with the communities where it operated.
“As always, and with great respect, our team members will be communicated with first if there are any planned changes to our stores,” the spokesperson said.
The Target division employs more than 13,000 people across the country.
