A successful outcome was achieved at a follow up meeting to the community meeting held at Bonny Hills Surf Life Saving Club and the communities of Bonny Hills/Lake Cathie on April 16. The meetings were a result of an alleged sewerage spill on Boxing Day 2017 from Saltwater Creek onto Rainbow Beach, Bonny Hills.

At the meeting council made a commitment to upgrade sewerage pump no 2 in Rodley Street to handle more influx of stormwater into the sewerage pipes.
Also in November this year they are to do an internal seal of the existing pipework which may require some excavation and replacement.
The community is very grateful to our Mayor Peta Pinson who supported us throughout this process.
We would also like to thank Alex Fisher director of infrastructure; Dan Croft group manager development assessment; and Clayton Michiel engineer in charge of Bonny Hills/Lake Cathie Sewerage Treatment Works.
We look forward to keeping the lines of communication open with council and working towards positive outcomes for both parties.
