Only five points separated the top three with Port City duo Christine Errington and Bruce Anderson falling just short of Ballina bowlers Rod Madden and Jo Evans.
Hibbard Bowling Club’s zone president Ken Errington and partner Ellen Evans rounded out the top three.
Port City Bowling Club coordinator Phil Baker said the competition was “tight at the top” and the result from Errington and Anderson didn’t come as a surprise.
“They were the local favourites so it wasn’t really a surprise to see them go well,” he said.
“The locals did really well and it was a tight finish; nothing separated the top three teams.”
South Australian duo and defending champions Vicki and Geoff Lehmann finished in fourth position.
Baker said numbers were down due to the Australian Open event which is currently being held in Queensland.
“All up we probably had around 100 bowlers which is down a little on last year,” he said.
“Bowlers came from everywhere including South Australia, Victoria, Boolaroo and North Haven.”
