Sonia O’Bree-Smith and husband, Skip have so far collected some $1500 for ‘Hair with Heart – Variety’ and Bowel Cancer Australia.
All funds raised will be split evenly between the two charities.
The big-hearted Wauchope couple say they are very humbled by the response from the community.
The couple were inspired to do something positive after family friend, Geoffro, lost his battle with bowel cancer on June 9 2017.
Their fundraising efforts culminated with the hair cuts 12 months after his passing, Sonia said.
“We have collected about $1500 so far and that is without collecting the donation tins,” she said.
“And we have decided to leave the fundraising page open until June 30 too.
“More people may want to make a donation now that we have actually had our hair cut off.
“As well, Jarod’s hair has been packed up and will be shipped out where it will be made into wigs.
“We don’t know exactly what that outcome will be, but it is certainly a nice thought to have; that we may have helped someone with cancer.”
The couple also thanked Ami from JeniSha Hair Design who donated her time to cut their hair on Saturday.
You can still make a donation at one of the following outlets: JeniSha Hair Design, Wild Karma Tattoo, Coppy’s Butcher’s, IGA Wauchope and Wauchope One Stop $2 Plus Shop.
