A mixture of preventative and responsive calls were answered with Port Macquarie locals calling on the men and women in orange for assistance.
Michael Brumby, deputy unit commander and last night’s incident controller, said the local SES unit performed their duties well.
“Wednesday night is our training night so we were able to respond very quickly to people’s calls for help,” Mr Brumby said.
“The intense rain was fairly localised with the call outs we responded to all in town.
“Our units attended a number of different situations including a leaky roof and a fallen tree.”
He said the weather is expected to be more stable as we move towards the weekend but the SES unit will always be on call.
“We will wait and see how the weather is over the next day or so but our units will be ready to respond if they are required,” he said.
“While it is dry though, we are encouraging people to ensure their drainpipes and gutters are clear and before a storm we want people to tie down lose objects that may get thrown around during storms or heavy rain.
“As always, do not go into flood waters and be careful.”
