Three Wauchope fighters took part, with Skye Hollis leading the way in an exhibition bout.
Both Skye and her opponent were told by the matchmaker to put in a solid effort as he was looking at their skills and technique for upcoming boxing tournament match ups.
“Skye did not disappoint showing us she is improving every time she steps into the ring,” trainer, Dave Thurtell said.
New team member David Linsen also had an exhibition bout his first time back in the ring after a six-year absence from boxing.
“He showed his excellent footwork and punching technique had not been forgotten in the time away,” Thurtell said.
But the star of the night was Brock Hollis.
Coming off a loss in his last fight appearance Brock endured some intensive training in the lead-up to this event.
“He worked extremely hard in the gym to make a few small corrections to his boxing style and he reaped the reward by getting the win in a close decision over his opponent ‘Lucky’ Sakulthaeo,” his coach said.
Trainer Thurtell was more than proud of Brock.
“It was almost perfect, mate; you did everything we trained for,” he said.
Wauchope Boxing Club invites everybody to come and show their support for local fighters at the annual fight night event to be held at the Wauchope RSL Club on Saturday June 23 commencing at 6pm.
“We would also like to thank our major sponsors for their valued support. Bago Tavern, A Classy Café, BDM Heavy Vehicle Repairs and Kazac Civil,” Thurtell said.
