I’m no geotech engineer and no company is going to pay me thousands of dollars in consultancy fees.
However I reckon my 52 years experience of building sandcastles at the beach allows me to comment on the current dredging of sand at Lake Cathie and using that same sand to repair the eroded bank on the northside of the lake.
A mound of sand, no matter how tightly packed, mixed with moving water will result in a disappearing mound of sand.
Once the lake reopens all that time, effort and money currently being spent on the repair work will disappear, along with the northern bank.
