That’s the message from Port United coach Nathan Wade to his players before their match with Wauchope at Dixie Park on Saturday.
United suffered a rare 3-2 defeat on the road to Macleay Valley last weekend which spells danger for their opponents west of the donut.
The absence of Kaleb Langbein, Troy Berecry and Jake Pugh will help Wauchope’s cause, but Wade was confident in United’s depth.
“We’ve got three out this weekend, but we have plenty of cover,” he said.
It will be the Green Bloods’ final hit-out before their FFA Cup clash with Lambton Jaffas on June 9.
“We’ll play a different style against Wauchope than we will against Jaffas,” Wade said.
“We want to play a more attacking style this weekend.”
Matt Bale will take over the captaincy duties and look to improve on his goal scoring tally which currently stands at nine.
Wade said Bale and attacking counterpart Harry Gordon were locked in a friendly battle up front.
“They’re in a race between themselves to see who can score the most goals this season; Harry’s scored 11 so far,” the coach said.
Despite Wauchope’s lowly ladder position, the United coach expected a “spirited” opponent.
“The hardest games to win are the ones you’re expected to,” he said.
“If we can weather the early storm, hopefully our skill level will be too good.”
First grade kicks off at 3pm.
