Brisbane will serve as the headquarters for the national Guinness World Record attempt for the number of people stargazing at once.
Organisers are hoping 5000 citizen astronomers will gather at the city's Roma Street Parkland, and 30,000 across the nation.
At least 7961 people across more than 37 locations will need to simultaneously gaze into the night sky through a telescope for 10-minutes to break the current record.
