Each day many of us drive children to school, travel to work or go about our daily routine using our local road network.
While road maintenance and providing a safe and accessible network is a high priority for council, driving with caution to ensure we safely reach our destination is everyone’s responsibility.
This week, the annual Fatality Free Friday initiative will take place to raise awareness about road safety, and encourage drivers to pledge their support in doing their bit to reduce deaths on our roads to zero.
On average five people lose their lives on roads in the Port Macquarie-Hastings each year, and over 1200 tragically lose their lives nationally, so I encourage you all to make the pledge and spread the road safety message.
More than 221,734 road safety pledges have already been made by Australians in 2018, and it’s easy to make yours too.

Slice of Haven
Weekends spent in the beautiful Camden Haven rarely disappoint, and when you add the smells, tastes and sensations of a food festival into the mix, it just doesn’t get any better.
This Sunday will see the 11th annual Slice of Haven cook up a storm in Laurieton, with the festival becoming one of our communities most popular days out.
Get together with your friends and family and enjoy a great day out on the Camden Haven River foreshore, from 10am-4pm.
Entry to Slice of Haven is by gold coin donation and will support the volunteer organisations who help make the event possible.
So come along on Sunday and enjoy all the sights, sounds and flavours of the Camden Haven’s finest food, wine, beer and music festival.
