Despite being lumbered with a top weight of 60.5 kilograms earned due to recent wins at Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie, the Harbour Watch gelding was sent out as firm odds-on favourite and gave nothing else a chance in scoring by over four lengths.
Terry Treichel was content to park off the pace aboard Star of Theharbour before showing a paralysing burst of speed down the straight in accounting for Huey and Saganaki.
The victory continues to highlight the training expertise of Neil Godbolt with the stable responsible for an early double after Outsmartem saluted in the previous event following a second with Taken by Chance in the opener.
Riding honours on the program were shared by Robert Agnew and Ben Looker, who both were responsible for doubles.
After linking up with Outsmartem in the second, Agnew was seen to advantage when narrowly saluting aboard Budawang for local trainer, Tom Higgins, who is enjoying a great season.
Looker continued his great run of success by riding the former Victorian performer, Trent, to victory earlier in the day for Matthew McCudden before partnering O’Driscoll to a comprehensive victory in the last race.
O’Driscoll was the only runner engaged from the astute Tas Morton stable and gave nothing else a chance in accounting for Camayoc and Wonderful Thing by around five lengths.
The race was marred when Chelsea Ings parted company from Kailis Pearl soon after the start of the event with the popular hoop escaping serious injury although complaining of pain to her right leg before being further assessed by Port Macquarie Hospital medical staff.
Action in the main race on the program centred on the solid betting move for the Barry Lawrence trained galloper, Darbies Blugirl, with supporters cheering as Jenny Duggan steered the mare first past the post over Valbeata and Jemily.
Leah Kilner is the daughter of prominent Grafton trainer, Greg Kilner, and after being successful on her first day of race riding on Boxing Day at Ballina, continues to impress with her win aboard Invincible Tammy for John Shelton in the opening race.
The other highlight on the program was the all the way victory by Mokin for Graham Shultz in the maiden plate with the continued riding expertise of Peter Graham on full display.
Racing was conducted before an above average patronage on a soft surface with the next meeting to be conducted by the Port Macquarie club listed for the 26th June while the Wauchope Cup meeting is scheduled for the circuit on Sunday 17th June.
Continued thanks to the Master Builders Association Oxley Division for their support and acknowledgement of associate sponsors, Kennards Hire, Petries Mitre 10, JBL Glass, Hanson, Sovereign Hills, Stowe Australia and Better Solar Energy.
