Local organising committee chairman for Ironman Australia Port Macquarie Mike Reid was ecstatic with the outcome of the weekend events.
Mr Reid was full of praise for all areas of the successful event; from the preparation and set up through to the completion of the world-recognised events.
"The preparation was good, despite the rain leading into the event, and there were no set up hiccups," he said.
"We have a very good working relationship with Ironman Australia and we facilitate the race with the support of our many volunteers.
"Each of our race directors has an Ironman representative allocated to them across the weekend which is excellent from an organisational point of view."
Mr Reid some unheralded 'little things' helped make the Port Macquarie event a success.
"You and I may not notice them, but there was some signage out on the course, which helps the comeptitors," he said.
The chairman also praised the Bright Night event on Friday. "It really cranked up this year and changed it up for everyone. While the Ironkids event was also very successful on Saturday," he said.
Mr Reid also acknowledged the support of the volunteers and the wider community.
He said the decision to appoint Port Macquarie as host for the next three years was 'excellent for our tourism'.
And, he said, the filming of the event will be beamed around the world several times over the next 12 months.
It's a big drawcard for Port Macquarie and a good advertisement for us.

Port Macquarie Chamber of Commerce executive officer Mark Wilson also pointed to the tourism aspect of the event.
"It's a big drawcard for Port Macquarie and a good advertisement for us," he said.
"No doubt a lot of people will come back to the Hastings for a general holiday.
"We are thrilled that this event has been confirmed for a further three years."
Mr Wilson said the event created a 'real buzz' around town in the lead up to the weekend.
"You could literally see the results of the seats taken at the cafes and restaurants," he added.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council mayor Peta Pinson described the atmosphere on race day as 'electric'.
“What a wonderful weekend it was, with great weather and so many locals getting out and again contributing to this great community event," she said.
"There were certainly lots of sore Ironman competitors out and about this morning (Monday) as they celebrate their achievements with family, friends and their triathlon clubs.
"There is no other event on our local calendar that gives so much to our community, and whilst getting around on Sunday may have been a little tricky for some, the boost to our local economy is second to none.
"It’s also fabulous to see so many NSW, interstate and international visitors enjoying our beautiful region after the event."
The mayor said Friday night's Bright Night attracted more than 750 colourful and enthusiastic participants while there were 350 future champions compete in the IronKids event on Saturday.
"Our volunteers once again did us proud and we anticipate the local organising committee will donate more than $50,000 back to local sporting and community groups in appreciation for their efforts.
"The event bump-out is well underway, and it is pleasing to see the Westport Park boat ramp already back open.
"With us securing the rights to host Ironman until 2021, there is no doubt that the biggest event on our local calendar will continue to be even bigger and better in coming years.”
