This night has been a long-standing and proud tradition of Wauchope Rotary and has been traditionally held close to Anzac Day.
“We hold this dinner in appreciation of the individual and collective giving of these men and women to ensure that we, as Australians, enjoy all that is the quality of life and harmony and peace,” said Wauchope Rotary president, Neville Parsons.
He said it was a time to reflect on the spirit of our Anzacs and all servicemen and women before and after that nation-forming battle on April 25 1915.
“We give thanks to the many servicemen and women who have given their energy and efforts, and in too many cases, their lives, to ensure that we can live in a democratic country that is a great place to live work and play,” said Mr Parsons.
“We are indebted to those who made the ultimate sacrifice and indeed all that have enlisted and served our nation throughout our history.”
Guest speaker was Wauchope High School Vice Captain, Tamika Cordell, who gave a presentation on the Battle of Long Tan.
