On April 17, members and volunteers with headspace were encouraging people to take part in fun activities, games and mindfulness exercises all aimed at improving mental health.
Community engagement officer, Jules Jamieson said it is so important that people think of mental health the way they do physical health.
“Today we are really trying to promote healthy eating as one of the ways people can help take care of their mental health,” Ms Jamieson said.
“We were offering people green smoothies, sushi, protein balls and sandwiches because diet has been linked to depression but also arts and crafts along with the chance to bang on a bongo.
“It is all about encouraging people to take a step back, think about and put their mental health first.”
Ms Jamieson said the lunchtime session at Town Green had been a success with lots of curious people coming to see what was going on.
“We have been really pleased with how many people have come down to see us,” she said.
“We are an organisation that is targeted at young people and it has been really great for us to engage with the community and particularly our young people.”
