Local community groups with an interest in improving health will have an opportunity to apply for small grant funding to implement innovative preventive health projects, with the recent launch of the Healthy Communities Mid North Coast Innovation Fund.

Grants of up to $3,000 are available to fund community-led projects within the Mid North Coast with a focus on children and young people, healthy middle years or healthy ageing.
Healthy Communities Mid North Coast coordinator Amy Sawyer said the Innovation Fund aims to support local small groups to improve the health of our communities.
“We are looking for new and creative projects that support healthy eating and physical activity in particular,” Ms Sawyer said.
There are two grant categories available in the Innovation Fund. Primary Prevention projects aimed at preventing the onset of disease and Secondary Prevention projects that relate to detecting diseases in their early stages and preventing progression.
The Innovation Fund is coordinated by Healthy Communities Mid North Coast, an interagency committee lead by the Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD), with government and non-government partners including NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet, Mid North Coast Department of Education and Communities, Department of Families and Community Services, North Coast Primary Health Network, Mid North Coast Aboriginal Health Authority and local Councils from across the Mid North Coast Region.
