The generous gift was made possible when staff nominated the maternity service for the bank’s Centenary Grants valued at $10,000 each.
Port Macquarie Base Hospital Acting Midwifery Unit Manager Olivia Tierney thanked the Commonwealth Bank, and its Port Macquarie, Wauchope and Laurieton branches, for the generous donation.
“Our Maternity Unit staff are humbled by the support provided to our patients by the CommBank Foundation’s Centenary of Giving program,” Ms Tierney said.
“This extremely welcomed donation will make a huge difference to patient comfort and safety as it will wholly fund a new birthing bed for the unit.
“The fully electronic, fully adjustable state-of-the-art equipment helps support the mother during birthing, and improves functionality for midwifery staff throughout all stages of the birthing process.
“We are so very fortunate to have the Commonwealth Bank fund this important piece of equipment.
“Thank you doesn’t seem sufficient, but we are extremely grateful.”
Wauchope branch manager Lauren Pye said the grants program was possible thanks to more than 13,000 current and retired bank employees who donate a portion of their income to the program.
“We’re thrilled to be able to support organisations like the Special Care Nursery in the important work they do for our local community,” Ms Pye said.
“It’s especially meaningful that we are able to celebrate 100 years of employee giving, by nominating an organisation to receive a Centenary Grant in our local community.”
