President Glen Pursehouse is thrilled with the turnout so far, with many of the kids that turned up having never picked up a stick before.
“People can come down get to know us, and see what our sport is about, as well as being able to register anyone who wants to play with us this season.
“It’s so great to see this program is still being validated by the community – it wasn’t just a one-hit wonder when we launched it last year, and we are still receiving positive feedback and support for it,” he said.
“We want to continue to provide an option for parents who don’t want to travel to Port or all over the Hastings area for their kids to play sport.”
Wauchope Hockey Club say they’re sticking with the ‘One time, one place, no travel’ concept, playing in Wauchope at the same field (Landrigan Park) at the same time (4.30 – 6pm) every week on Mondays, a concept many of the parents at the ‘come and try’ days appreciated.
With the $100 active kids voucher, any new player under the age of 11 years registering receiving a voucher which covers the cost of a stick, shin pads and mouth guard.
This program is aimed at kids aged 4–11 years of age, and the season will be starting in early May. For those wanting more information, come along on Monday March 26 at Landrigan Park from 4.30pm.
