The trio said they have been blown away by the support they have received from the community for their Wedding Dress Charity Ball organised for May 26.
“It started as this little idea that we wanted to raise some money for local charities,” Ms Ducat said.
“In the beginning we thought we would be lucky if we had 20 or 30 people come, but within four days we had sold 170 tickets which is just incredible.
“In the past I have organised a few charity events but we wanted to do something a little different – particularly for women – and then I thought of a wedding dress ball.
“For those women who have been married you wear your wedding dress once and then it stays in a box, so we thought it would be a fantastic idea to dust them off and have fun with them once again.
“And for those who haven’t been married it can be a fun dress up night.”
The ball, hosted at the Westport Club will be a sit down canapé, share platter and high tea desert style event, but is not just fun and games, it is also raising money for two local charities, child and family services at Port Macquarie Neighbourhood Centre and Australians 4 woman’s health.
“Being midwives and nurses we care for women and children all day long, and we are really passionate about helping them in any way we can,” Ms Welsh said.
“The child and family services at the Port Macquarie Neighbourhood Centre do fabulous work for local, disadvantaged families.”
“And the charity Australians 4 woman’s health is founded by our local obstetrician and gynecologist Ray Hodgson, who has set up overseas surgical camps to correct women’s injuries caused by poor birthing practices.”
Ms Burt also said that those who have bought tickets will be treated to live entertainment, games and an auction on the night.
“It is shaping up to be a really fantastic night, we have a local band coming to play along with a variety of games and an auction with some really fabulous pieces donated,” Ms Burt said.
