Last year’s Football Mid North Coast Premier League runners-up started slowly and headed to the break with a 1-0 advantage before they went on with it in the second half.
Jake Pugh, Matt Moore, Elliot Breaks and Matt Bale all got on the scoresheet while Harry Gordon finished with a brace.
Coach Nathan Wade was impressed with his team’s first performance since their 2-0 loss to Wallis Lake in last season’s decider.
“We were a bit rusty in the first half although we created a lot of chances,” Wade said.
“In the second half we got into a bit of rhythm and scored some goals.”
Goalkeeper Adam Wright was impressive, while new signing Gordon showed some classy touches.
“He had a good debut for the club and will be handy for us,” Wade said.
Wallamba took out the southern league last year.
“We went into the game as favourites, but the opposition was better than I thought and they won their competition,” he said.
“To score six against them while also keeping a clean sheet was really pleasing.”
Jack Pilgrim, Jake Avery, Matt Broderick and Simon Granfield will all come into calculations for upcoming trial matches after missing Sunday’s win.
United will continue preparations for the upcoming Premier League season with a trial match against Garden Suburb at Wayne Richards Park this Saturday.
They head to Nambucca Heads on March 17 before rounding out their pre-season with a clash against Warners Bay in Port Macquarie on March 24.
