Artists and creators are invited to feature as part of ArtWalk in the Port Macquarie CBD on April 19.
ArtWalk is an edgy, intense and captivating night of discovery that illuminates secret and unexpected spaces with free pop-up performances, artistic interventions and creative installations.
The 2018 program offers a number of opportunities for artists to participate.
Works will include projection content, live performances and street art activations that will light up public spaces throughout the CBD.
Spaces in the public art component of this year’s event are filling fast and individual artists, creators and groups are being invited to register their interest to be included.
Those interested in being involved are encouraged to act quickly as spaces are limited.
Registrations close on February 28.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council group manager Lucilla Marshall said ArtWalk 2018 was shaping up to be bigger and better than ever.
“ArtWalk is a unique event that offers local and travelling artists the opportunity to showcase their work, while at the same time creating an epic display of vibrant colours and place activations in the heart of our CBD,” she said.
“Last year, more than 8500 locals and visitors got in touch with their creative side, and we expect this year’s event to attract an even larger crowd.”
The theme for ArtWalk 2018 will reflect the concept of journey, celebrating our rich local heritage, the traditional custodians of our land the Birpai people and commemorates our region’s bicentenary.
Not only are places available for the public walking trail exhibition, expressions of interest are also encouraged from businesses to host artist displays in their premises, and artisans to showcase their handmade creations as part of the new night Artists’ Market in the Town Square.
“ArtWalk has become one of our region’s most popular community-driven events and we encourage local creatives and artists to get involved in what’s shaping up to be another fabulous illumination of art, colour and sound,” Ms Marshall said.
