Hastings Valley Motorcycle Club kicks off 2018 season with club open day

PERFORMANCES from Dylan Stalder and Brayden Cook were the standouts as Hastings Valley Motorcycle Club started their local season on Sunday.

Stalder claimed a third place finish in B-grade and finished first in MX1 as more than 90 junior riders and 80 senior riders took to the track.

Club president Glenn Fullford said it was a strong start to the season and they were now preparing to host the East Coast Series at the end of the month.

Fullford said a dramatic finish in the 125cc division secured Cook the overall day’s result.

“He was running third in a race and then second place crashed in front of him,” the president said.

“He then took over first on the last corner which he had to win to take the overall win on the day.

“It was a pretty good race.”

Stalder was rewarded for his hard work in B-grade after he had “shown a lot of potential over the last couple of years.”

“He’s now putting in the effort and doing a lot of hard work along the way and is probably a little bit more motivated than he was,” Fullford said.

Overall, the club was satisfied with their first race day for the year where the track stood up.

“It was a really good hit out for it and it didn’t break up where we put the sawdust down,” Fullford said.

“The girls were run off their feet in the canteen so we can’t thank them enough.

“We’re now looking forward to hosting some of the best riders in the state at the East Coast Series.”
