There are only a couple of weeks remaining until parents can claim a $100 voucher for their school-enrolled children, thanks to the NSW government’s new Active Kids program.
Government wants to ensure every child has access to sports and active participation for their health and wellbeing.
From January 31, parents, guardians and carers of children participating in sport and other approved physical activities in NSW can apply for the voucher online through their MyServiceNSW account, and then redeem the voucher at their local sporting club or approved provider.
Whether your child participates in summer or winter sports or activities, Active Kids vouchers can be used until December 31, 2018.
We want every child in NSW to be able to use their voucher, so we encourage parents to speak to their local club about registering to be an approved provider.
For more information on the program visit sport.nsw.gov.au/activekids or phone Service NSW on 13 77 88.
Nominations open for NSW Training Awards
Employers and trainers can nominate outstanding local apprentices, trainees and organisations for the 2018 NSW Training Awards up until March 16.
The NSW Training Awards are a chance to recognise and congratulate the best apprentices, trainees and teachers in our Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector.
Once nominations close, regional award winners will be announced in June. Winners can then represent our region at the State Finals in September and at the Australian Training Awards in November.
VET students can be nominated if they have completed or are due to complete their apprenticeship or traineeship between October 1, 2017 and September 30, 2018.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Skills, John Barilaro, says last year he received a record number of nominations for the awards, which is a great sign that more and more students, parents and employers in NSW are realising the value of VET.
