Chris, with help from the Port Macquarie Youth Hub on Horton Street, will host a workshop on January 8 from 8.30am until the afternoon. It is free and open to anyone aged 11 to 24.
“It‘s a free creative workshop about singing and song writing and I’d love to see anyone who is interested,” he said.
“They can come and hang out, learn some song writing techniques and do some sessions, but there is no pressure on anyone to sing.
“Anyone who plays instruments can also come along as that helps with the song writing side of things as well.”
Chris is a great musician in his own right, recently releasing his new single, Godzilla, and performing in venues on the Mid North Coast weekly.
He is studying youth working outside of music, but loves to combine the two.
“Combining music with youth working is something I want to do. It’s a great outlet for kids,” he said.
“I’ve been working with Andrew and Sophia Lord, who runs a new local business, so it’s really his baby but I’ll be coming on board and doing tutoring, lessons and artist development.
“The Youth Hub has such a good reputation with the community and we hope to have them on board long term.”
Chris said whether you are shy, or simply have nothing else to do, it is worth attending.
“We will aim to help to build up confidence. There’s no pressure to sing in front of anyone, you can just come and hang out,” he said.
“You never know what will happen. You might get inspired and end up writing a song.”
