The car was parked at Middle Rock with its owner enjoying a fish.
Lake Cathie and Bonny Hills’ brigades attended the scene.
Lake Cathie RFS senior deputy captain John Blackmore said the vehicle was well alight by the time they attended.
“Lake Cathie and Bonny Hills brigades attended the fire. The owner was apparently fishing at the time that the vehicle caught fire,” he said.
Mr Blackmore said the call out came at around 11pm.
The car fire was one of three call outs the Lake Cathie had attended around the Christmas period. He said the brigade attended an oven fire and a motor vehicle accident – all at Lake Cathie.
