Enfield had to overcome challenging conditions where wave heights were clean, but only between two and three feet on Saturday.
The swell dropped off even further for the final on Sunday where the 12-year-old did what she had to do to claim the win.
Coach Corey Enfield said it was Imojen’s first genuine event after she had progressed through the ranks.
“The other events that she’s won have been localised events, but at the weekend there were surfers from the Sunshine Coast and all the way down to the Central Coast,” he said.
“It’s a series of events that are run right up and down the coast, but this was her first one of the year.”
The coach said Enfield’s success was due to spending more time in the water.
“She didn’t surf remarkably well, but she did surf to form which has been improving over the last couple of months,” he said.
“Once they get to a certain point in age they generally go well.”
Conditions were challenging in the final.
“It was a low-scoring final because of the wave quality,” Enfield said.
“She only got a combined total of about six because there was just nothing there.
“She only needed one or two decent turns which she managed to do.”
The coach played his part in the 12-year-old’s success in the final as he directed her to move to a different part of the beach.
“The entire competition in the final was surfed on the one bank,” he said.
“I ran up the beach and told her to go a bit further south from the competition area, otherwise she wouldn’t have gotten anything.”
