Members from Hastings Rotaract are challenging other youth to join them as blood donors in this alternative Halloween quest by attending the Australian Red Cross Blood Service Port Macquarie Donor Centre on the corner of Clarence and Munster Street, from 5pm.
Vampires and other Halloween-themed donors are welcome, with prizes to be offered for the best dressed, however, to maintain appropriate conditions during the donation, no glitter or finely particulate makeup can be used, according to Hastings Rotaract Acting President, Natalie Schmitzer.
"We decided we wanted to combine a social activity with doing something positive for the community," Miss Schmitzer said.
"Donating blood or plasma as a young healthy person is a good continuing commitment.
"By having some fun, we hope other young people will get involved and share our passion for helping our local community,” she said.
