Unit Controller Michael Ward said both clubs have supported Port Macquarie SES for several years.
“Their support has made a significant impact on the level of service that we can provide to the community,” he said.
The trailer was constructed with the support of Brad from Macleay Trailers.
Port Macquarie SES is the primary response unit for General Land Rescue including Road Crash Rescue and nationally recognised training is undertaken to enable members to become registered by the State Rescue Board as a General Land Rescue Operator.
There is a significant initial and ongoing training commitment for rescue operators to achieve this registration.
“We’d also like to acknowledge Port Macquarie NRMA and Port Macquarie Cars who continue to provide ongoing support with the transportation of vehicles within the Port Macquarie area,” Mr Ward said.
“The addition of our own trailer will give us more flexibility when sourcing cars. As a unit we generally require a minimum of two vehicles each month for our ongoing training to maintain and improve our competency levels for road crash rescue.”
Approximately three vehicles per operator are required for the initial training, and additional vehicles are required for the assessment.
Six members have recently completed their Road Crash Rescue training and assessment to increase the capacity of the unit to respond to motor vehicle accidents.
The Coastal Hot Rods next show and shine is at Town Green February 10, 2018 and Hastings Old Holden’s Classic Show and Shine on March 17, 2018 at the Port Macquarie Race Course.
The trailer will be on display at the latter and the SES unit will provide a demonstration of road crash rescue capability.
