Held in Bathurst, our crew will compete on October 14 and 15.
The competition is to exercise the competing teams in the skills to foster excellence and innovation in rescue, provide a forum for learning through the exchange of rescue techniques and promote a spirit of friendly competition amongst NSW SES Members.
The skills covered include rescue from heights and depths, flood rescue, navigation and map reading, storm and water damage, casualty handling and first aid, urban search and rescue, and lifting and hauling techniques.
The Port Macquarie team consists of Michael Ward (team leader), Scott Witchard (deputy team leader), Michael Brumby (medic), Mark Anderson, Sereena Ward and Alfred Portenschlarger. Kevin Sherwood is attending as the team manager and mentor.
Mr Ward said they are looking forward to attending the 2017 SDRC.
“It is a great opportunity for us to exercise the skills and rescue techniques that we use to assist the Port Macquarie Hastings community in times of need,” he said.
