They will take on the Tweed Heads school on October 9 in the seventh round of the PSSA knockout competition.
The final is expected to be played in Sydney later in the year and after already travelling to Urunga and Nambucca Heads throughout the competition, travel won’t be an issue.
Team manager Tracy Wilcox was impressed with how far her year five and six girls had come in a short time.
“For such a small school to go this well is incredible,” she said.
“We usually make it to about the fourth round.”
Even more impressively, only one of the team has played touch football before – and that was only in the last 12 months.
Previously, Tele Point’s team has had a mixture of year three, four, five and six girls playing.
Wilcox said this year all the girls are in a similar age group, compared to previously when they were playing up an age division.
“That definitely helps,” she said.
While it has been a team effort, Wilcox said the importance of players Erin Simpson, Millie Davies and Bobbi Ward had been the key.
“They’re our links,” the manager said.
