In an indication of the strength of football in the region, 13 teams will fill the 28 available positions across the 14 different grand final opponents.
Port United and Port Saints will field four teams each, while Wauchope will be represented in two, Port FC one, Camden Haven one and Lake Cathie one.
Football Mid North Coast general manager Bruce Potter said while it was only for the northern half of the zone, it was a strong effort from the Hastings teams.
“In previous years we’ve had a few more Kempsey teams, but Port teams have done well,” he said.
“It should be a real festival of football up there.”
Potter said there had been questions asked about why the day was being held in Kempsey when most of the teams were from other areas.
The answer was simple.
“Three clubs in Kempsey put in an application months ago to host it before we knew who would be playing,” he said.
“Kempsey is a massive part of our region and we can’t make a last-minute decision to move it after they have stocked up their canteen and gotten the fields into the best shape.”
The winners of the 14 different grand finals on Saturday will play at Regional Stadium next Saturday leading up to the Premier League grand final which will kick off at 7.30pm.
“Next weekend will be a culmination of the best in the south against the best in the north to see who’s the best,” Potter said.
