Lank Bain Sports Complex will receive a $20,000 makeover on the day with the grandstand set to receive another coat of paint or two.
A new scoreboard will also be part of the works as well as continued improvements to the bar facilities at the ground.
The promotion is supported by the Footy Show’s sponsor, Home Timber and Hardware and is used in conjunction with the NSWRL Hogs for the Homeless charity ride.
Blues president Ged Roods said the works would receive air time in a segment on The Footy Show in the next week or two.
“I’m not sure how quick their production is, so it could be this Thursday or it could be the next Thursday,” he said.
He said it was important for the club to have Wauchope’s own Ian Schubert in town along with personalities such as Buderus and Johns.
“It’s not very often you get an immortal come to little old Wauchope, so we’re looking forward to it,” he said.
“It’s a good opportunity for people in our area to see genuine rugby league legends in their own backyard.
“We’re really lucky they’ve chosen our club.”
Footy Show host Erin Molan along with panel member Darryl Brohman will also make the trip and attend a Sportsmen’s function at the Hastings Hotel on Tuesday night.
Fellow channel nine identity and Brad Fittler will also be in town.
“It will be a pretty informal meet and greet and there will be special auction items that we will raffle off as well,” Roods said.
A coaching clinic will also run at Lank Bain Sporting Complex with Buderus and Johns between 4pm and 5pm.
Tickets to the Sportsmen’s function went on sale from Hastings Hotel on Thursday evening from 5pm and are $20 per person.
“We’ve got about 200 tickets available so we might squeeze another one or two into the hotel if we can,” Roods said.
“We don’t want to deny too many people the opportunity to attend.”
