It will be an added bonus to the premiers who have only lost one game in two seasons – coincidentally against their opponents this weekend.
Binge missed most of last year’s unbeaten run to the premiership when she found out she was expecting her second child.
But despite all the added challenges of becoming a mother again, her passion for the sport never wavered and she always hoped to return.
“I had to miss the second half of last season when I found out I was pregnant,” Binge said.
“It’s a lot of running around this year and I’m usually running late for games.
“I missed the grand final and wanted to come back and play so I hoped for the best that we made another grand final this year and we did so it feels good to be back.
“I was really disappointed and nervous this year for the girls and it was disappointing not to be directly involved last year, but hopefully we can win it again.”
The talented five-eighth will line up in the halves alongside Tegan Adkins in a new-look halves pairing that has barely missed a beat.
Binge has been part of the Breakers setup for all but two seasons since 2010.
She said this year’s team had welcomed some new additions who had settled into their roles well where most of the side can slot in to a variety of positions.
“We connected from the beginning and had girls come from different teams,” Binge said.
“We also had others that hadn’t played so it’s a different team from last year.”
The Breakers will look to avenge a 6-0 defeat to the Pirates when the two teams last met.
“The biggest challenge for us is bouncing back from the one loss – that’s probably been the one we had to have,” Binge said.
Port City then required two lots of extra time to sneak past Forster-Tuncurry 22-16 in last weekend’s preliminary final.
Binge was wary of what dangers Old Bar could pose, but remained confident the Breakers could claim back-to-back titles.
“They only got the lucky bounce of the ball last time but that made us push even harder last week and made us want to get back in the grand final even more,” she said.
“Hopefully we can get things off to a good start for the club on the day.”
Sunday’s match kicks off at 10.30am at Regional Stadium.
