The council says it’s a key project in its Recreation Action Plan.
The work includes
- construction of a new children’s water play area adjacent to the existing toddler pool,
- a tiered covered concrete grandstand on the north side of the pool
- new shade shelters.
The 1m and 3m diving boards will also be re-installed.
“The great news is the community will be able to access the pool whilst the upgrade continues,” said council director Matt Rogers.
“This means the pool will open as normal for the September school holidays and remain open throughout the summer swimming season.”

A key enhancement to the pool also included the construction of a new access friendly entry ramp and accessible amenities.
The council says it has made a significant financial investment in the Wauchope pool upgrade, and was successful in receiving $1.5 million funding for the upgrade through the Federal Government’s Community Development Grants.
“The upgrade comes as a result of Council working closely with the community over a number of years to ensure that this important community facility will support the recreational needs of locals and visitors for many years to come,” added Mr Rogers.
Community swimming pools are provided by Council in Wauchope, Kendall, Laurieton and Port Macquarie.
