The Port Macquarie school defeated Woolumbin High School at Coffs Harbour a few weeks ago with the team of George and Nick Rudd, Ryan Campbell and Flynn Broughton proving far too good.
The Hastings team won all six matches, completing an undefeated run throughout the tournament.
They did not lose a single match across the three rounds of knockout action.
PE teacher Lyndsay Neilson said they knew they had a strong team as all of them play competition at the Port Macquarie Table Tennis Club.
He didn’t feel they exceeded expectations, but was still surprised at their level of success.
“We knew we had a good team, but didn't expect to make it to the NSW CHS finals without losing a single match,” he said.
Five years ago, the school team won the North Coast final, but didn’t fare as well in Sydney in the CHS final so they will aim to go one better this time.
The boys are training regularly in preparation for the state finals at the Port Macquarie Table Tennis Centre where they are coached and play competition.
Brothers Nick and George started playing table tennis at home which then developed into a sibling rivalry.
Ryan started playing at school and discovered his hand-eye co-ordination made him a natural for the game while Flynn started playing with his friends.
He continues to play due to the social side of the game and the club.
The NSW CHS finals will be held in Sydney in September.
