The NSW Parliamentary Working Group on Assisted Dying will host an information session in Port Macquarie on July 11, along with Dying with Dignity Mid North Coast (DWDMNC).
The session will be a chance for DWDMNC members and other interested residents to be directly consulted on the Draft Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill 2017 (NSW), which was released in May.
The event at the Rushcutters Room, Panthers Port Macquarie, from 11am until 1pm, will be attended by working group member, deputy president, and chair of committees, Trevor Khan. Access the Bill at: legislation.nsw.gov.au/#/browse/bills/consultation/. Copies are available at the electorate office in Grant Street.
2017 Community Building Partnership program
Local non-profit groups are encouraged to apply for funding through the 2017 Community Building Partnership (CBP) program. CBP grants are available annually for community infrastructure projects that deliver positive social, environmental and recreational outcomes.
The NSW government ensures funding is available to support groups that think about the needs of locals. Sports clubs, charities and men’s sheds are just some of the groups that have benefited from the program in the past few years. Since 2011, our community has received almost $2 million in Community Benefit Grants. If your organisation needs some extra funding for the building, refurbishment or enhancement of facilities, I encourage you to prepare your application.
The Community Building Partnership program has awarded funding to more than 10,000 valuable community projects since it began in 2009. Applications close on Monday, August 9. Before applying, read the program guidelines to check your organisation and proposed project are eligible.
