Neville Parsons took over from Kathryn Stephens at the Changeover Dinner at Wauchope RSL on Tuesday May 30.
He joined Rotary when he was 14 years old, along with his father, and says it was in his blood.
The club has 21 members and Mr Parsons says that is the lowest number in his time, and yet the population of Wauchope has doubled.
“That is a challenge for us, and a challenge for the future. It is through the work of Rotary that this community is a better place. We need to tell our story,” he said.
The theme for the incoming year is: Rotary: making a difference.
The Pappinbarra Fire Recovery Appeal was started by Wauchope Rotary for people affected by the devastating bushfires in February and has raised more than $25,000.
The annual book sale raised more than $3,000 and last night, cheques were given out to community groups across the Hastings. The Club has also financially supported Rotary Foundation education and humanitarian programs and the End Polio Now program.
Outgoing president Kathryn Stephens paid tribute to the great team of Rotarians around her and said her guide dog, Gulliver has had a year of travel, tall tails and true adventure.
“Here’s to continuing to serve humanity,” she added.
